Mysterious Merchants
Few from outside Tepeicatl are allowed entry. The few who do go (and come back) speak of incredible things -- mountains made of Jade, floating tools, and an enormous storm to the east, looming hungrily.
Still, one merely has to stop at the halfway point along the underground Ilcahui Tradeway to know that the place is nothing like its counterparts beyond the mountains. Tepeicatl is lush and hot, overrun with jungles where its peoples have not formed plantations or cities. While the Union and the Protectorate are secretive, neither is quite so... resolute on maintaining this secrecy as Tepeicatl. Why? What are they hiding? Or hoarding? And why does a storm linger, even though refugees from the place claim it has done more than just that? POLITICAL ECONOMY Ambassadors and traders from Tepicatl refer to a Radiant Emperor, and are happy to talk trade deals importing raw resources and exporting the most luxurious and sophisicated items on Sai, but beyond that nothing is known about the political economy. |
